In the XVI ANPOF meeting in 2014 (in Campos do Jordão), the first meeting of the Philosophy of Neuroscience workgroup of ANPOF took place. Soon after, the I International Colloquium of Philosophy of Neuroscience/ the II Meeting of the Philosophy of Neuroscience workgroup, was organized and took place in UFMT (Federal University of Mato Grosso) in December 2014, under the coordination of Professor Gabriel Mograbi with Professor Leonardo Almada as his co-head.
The event featured two renowned international speakers: Georg Northoff (Mind, Brain Imaging and Neuroethics Lab/The Royal’s Institute of Mental Health Research (IMHR)/University of Ottawa) and Bernard Baars (Co-founder & Editor in Chief of the Society for MindBrain Sciences, a former Senior Fellow in Theoretical Neurobiology at The Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla, CA.), as well as many of the most important researchers of Brazil in the area. The meeting, in this first edition, did not have a fixed theme to be as inclusive as possible to all researchers in this research area, but it ended up revolving around topics about the self and consciousness.
